Courgettes aplenty

We were back at the allotment this afternoon. We managed to harvest a few potatoes and a bag full of spinach beet, which is turning out to be the surprise hit of our allotment - I hadn't expected it to do well at all when I planted it out as the seedlings seemed so spindly, but it's going great guns. Another hit is definitely the courgettes - we have 4 plants, one of 'normal' shaped courgettes which is just getting going now, and then 3 of these grenade-shaped ones which are doing brilliantly. I think by next week we'll have a good few more to pick. Beans are also starting to appear, so although we won't be overrun with veg this year (because of all the work the plot needed when we first got it we didn't plant till quite late) it'll be a respectable showing, and at least this way we know what works and what we probably need to plant earlier for next year.
