Moths

Humshaugh Wildlife Group met this morning in Tina's garden to examine the contents of 4 moth traps, set overnight in different gardens in the village. It was a revelation to see the numbers and all the different species who were hiding under broken egg boxes in the traps.

Some were released immediately; others popped into individual jars and kept cool before more detailed identification took place. I listened with amazement as names rattled off the tongues of the experts.

My favourites were the garden tiger, spectacled moth, burnished brass, and plain golden Y. I have posted a few elsewhere but this cute little one won for my blip.

Had a wonderful afternoon sleep.

Another beautiful summer's day here.
