First time shearing

Had a fantastic day at Fibre East with two friends. There was lots to see and go 'ohhh ahhh' at and stroke. We sat and had our lunch and watched this young sheep be sheared for the first time. A lady had chosen the sheep and once sheared the fleece given to the her. It was wonderful to see so many people interested in yarn and fibres of all sorts. I had a go at long draw spinning and enjoyed it - although will need to practice a lot! My teacher was very patient.

The colours and textures were amazing. Me and M got chatting to 2 very talented ladies from Russia. They were over for a week and it sounded like it was a local textile group had all come over together. One of the two wore the most incredible dress made from silk and wool that had been felted. This really got us thinking about the process and how we could replicate it.

The weather was the total opposite to last year and we swapped wellies for sun cream

Now to get packed for our cycle tour on Monday.
