First Blossom

There was a frost this morning, the first for just over two weeks. We have enjoyed a long period of relatively mild weather in the middle of winter. The trouble with this is that the sap rises too early in the fruit trees. As it's not unusual to have snow on the ground in the first week of September the trees are more likely to be successful if they blossom after then.

The tree that this blossom is on is sheltered by the hedge. I'm hoping that the others in the open will not be so precocious.

I'm feeling better today. Not particularly lively, but I stayed awake. Thank you for all your kind wishes.
