Wine Country Landscaping

We're staying in Sonoma County, and took lots of pictures of vineyards and valleys, but I let my daughter pick today's blip (with Nana's vote of approval). She was quite fascinated with this flowering artichoke that was part of someone's fancy garden. We went back twice to check it out.

Artichokes are a dinnertime favorite at our house, so we both were struck by how pretty it looks when it's left to bloom. I knew it was a giant thistle, but I had no idea how pretty they could be. Straight out of the camera shot as I don't have access to editing software. Hope the blues looks as brilliant to you as they do to me on this old monitor :)
