Pictorial blethers

Pink and fuzzy

I was heading indoors at the end of the afternoon, about an hour before the rain arrived, when I realised I'd not taken any pics for today. The astilbe is in full feathery flower just now, and though there is a more delicate pink one further down the garden and another similar one in the front garden, the almost artificial pink of this one demanded to be recorded. This one was a present from a friend - she was dividing one in her garden - at least 35 years ago. I think it has changed colour slightly over the years; I'm sure it used to be more dark red. Do astilbes react to the soil?

I don't expect it to look so bouncy after the weather we're promised over the next 48 hours ...
