The Path We Didn't Take

19.8C with heavy showers, clearing late afternoon. Light breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound and I got into the car and went to the Coop for milk this morning. Well, I went for milk. Maeve waited in the car.

On the way home we went to the car park at Westhaven and had a short walk along the beach between showers. The tide was in. We saw a new boat in the water. By a new boat I mean one that we have not seen in the water before. It has been being fixed up and painted beside the Fishermen's huts for a few weeks. Painted a deeper blue than the usual blue that everyone seems to use at Westhaven. It was moored next to the smaller boats to one side of the channel through the rocks.

After lunch, when there seemed to be a gap in the showers, Maeve and I went for our walk. We got down the bridle path, almost as far as the road, when the rain came on. We sheltered under a big tree for a while until the rain was almost off then decided to try to get home before the next shower.

We walked along the cycle path and paused at the gate that would have taken us through the little field to the level crossing and then down to the beach. Another shower had started so we didn't go that way today but carried straight on and then turned up the road for home.

It is nearly half a mile up the road to get home, so we were a bit damp to say the least when we got in. Not as long as our usual walk, but at least we got out for a while :-)

With a bit of luck it will be dry enough for us to have our evening walk with Apothecary7 after dinner.
