Luna 1st Birthday

Born in Vielitz, Brandenburg north of Berlin and about a 700km drive from here. Many will know her history but a quick recap: A wonderful young family in Berlin were her 1st home at 8 weeks. They realised after a further 8 weeks that they simply could not offer her all that she needed - They had house & garden, love & care, everything a "normal" dog would dream of, but Luna is a very active, dominant type who needs to be occupied almost every minute she is awake. So they made the very hard decision to find a better suited home and thanks largely to Blip (they could see what our daily life could offer), Luna came to us at the end of November. Just three weeks ago. the family visited us and there was an emotional reunion, especially for young Matteo and I think Luna enjoyed it too. Naturally today we had several exchanges of messages, photos and videos until my mobile battery gave up this evening.

Luna has gone from strength to strength but she remains a very active and dominant type. She is the complete opposite to Flash - tell him once he musn't do something and the matter is closed, forever. Luna learns quickly but will keep testing the limits and will forget the odd rule. She has on balance been good for Flash, they play a lot together but Luna has the say. Flash is at times almost frightened of her but I am sure she has given him a new lease of life.

Today was scorching hot. Angie walked the dogs early in the morning and then the dogs and I locked ourselves in the house, with closed windows & shutters where it was a wonderfully cold 26°C. At 7:00pm we re-emerged to open Luna's presents and have a play session followed by a paddle in the stream.

To Matteo, Alina, Steffi and Oliver - Thank you for putting your trust in us and I am sure you made the right decision. You know you are all very welcome in our chaotic world. School begins for Alina on Monday and then a week later Matteo's very first day at school in the 1st class. (A somewhat unusual rule, I think unique to Berlin) Good luck both of you!
