Amelia Jane

Amelia Jane is our Seal Tortie-Point Birman. She is a little cat, quite dinky really. Molly the Maine Coon would be over twice her size and weight. And as for Morris, the Maine Coon, he would be at least three times Amelia’s size and weight.
Amelia is a character. Anyone who owns a tortie-point, or even a straight tortoiseshell cat, will agree that they are widely regarded as being “Naughty Torties”. They live up to this nickname. Some can be quite feisty with strong personalities. Amelia is no exception. She is the most vocal of our cats by far... She is the one who sits on a stool in the kitchen and yeowls very loudly to be fed. She takes it upon herself to be the spokesperson for the Maine Coons.
Amelia is allowed to sleep on our bed. The Maine Coons are far too heavy and Morris is very disruptive, being a climber of furniture in the small hours. Amelia is content to curl up and purr quietly in my ear. Sometimes she washes my hair which is a bit disconcerting.
Amelia did not take kindly to Morris being added to our feline family. When he arrived here he was a bit smaller than Amelia. She would hound him mercilessly and beat him up at every opportunity. We used to have to take steps to protect him from her. Separate rooms and the like.
But gradually Morris grew bigger and bigger and bigger until the worm turned. There is now a truce of sorts between Amelia and Morris. As for Molly…. well she doesn't care one way or another. And she and Amelia play together at times.
Amelia loves sitting/sleeping on top of the big heat pump unit. It is her special place as she has figured out that her Maine Coon mates are too big to sit on the unit.
There is never a dull moment with the animals in our family…..
