Muttley's Musings

Small Heath

I visited a nature reserve created next to Croft Quarry (see this blip) and had a lovely walk. I saw so many butterflies, and there were many different types of butterflies. This one is a Small Heath, but I also saw some Peacocks, Comma's, a Green Veined White, a Ringlet and a Gatekeeper. There is also a pond/wetland area in the reserve, and I saw some Common Blue Damselflies, including a male and female coupled together forcing the female through the water to lay eggs. I also saw a Common Darter Dragonfly near the pond.

Now I've got home we've had a thunder storm, but now it's bright sunshine again.
