Lest We Forget

I went out for an early cycle this morning before it either gets too hot, or b gets too wet. I was scouting for some more potential blip locations, when I cycled through our village centre and passed the war memorial. I then remembered hearing on the radio this morning that today is the 99th Anniversary of the outbreak of World War 1. The report also mentioned that as part of the plans to commemorate the 100th Anniversary next year, any village which was the birthplace of somebody who had won a Victoria Cross during the Great War would have a commemorative paving stone donated to remember the person and the valiant deed that they performed.

It seemed fitting to commemorate this by blipping our war memorial. It's nice to see that it is so well looked after and was being lit up by a bit of early sunshine which as breaking through the clouds which picked out the gold decorations on the memorial.
