Art Full

Yesterday and today have been full of wonderful art!

My friend A, who came up yesterday from Seattle, presented me with a gorgeous pastel drawing she had made of the countryside just south of here. The layers of color and the details were exquisite, and wanting to see the drawing installed in my home as soon as possible, I suggested that we go to Fourth Corner Framing that very day.

I loved entering the store and saying, "I have something else for you to frame -- and I've brought the artist with me!" We had a great time working with the framing specialist, picking out just the right mats and frame to best display A's lovely drawing, which you'll see here at a future date.

This morning A and I went to local artist Ben Mann's monthly open studio. I've loved his cheerful, bright, energetic work since the first time I saw it, so it was a treat to be amongst so many examples today, and to be able to talk with Ben about his process and what inspires him. (Check out Phil's fine blip of Ben's April open studio to see the artist himself and many more of his works!)

Ben's work brightens many public places, businesses, and homes in Bellingham, including this corner of my One Street, where his lively images and arrows point the way to a number of Fairhaven services. And now, one of his works brightens our home!

I don't think it will be the only one...
