The Boss

Round-the-world racer Alex Thompson's yacht, Hugo Boss, won a four-way race off Cowes today to determine who would win a 10-minute sprint between an ocean going Open 60, a foiling Moth, a wind surfer and a kite surfer.

Helming the moth was 2008 Olympic Laser gold medallist, Paul Goodison, while double-Olympic medallist, Nick Dempsey was racing the windsurfing board and Sam Lutman-Pauc, the kite. In January Thompson became only the third Briton to achieve a podium finish at round-the-world yacht race, the Vendee Globe. I sailed the Fastnet race with him in 2009.

In this race Dempsey came second, the Moth third and the last I saw of the kite it was tearing off over in the wrong direction towards Foley Power Station.
