Greenfield Street

Ignore the satellite dishes and UPVC windows and there's not much changed up in this area of the town since these buildings first went up.

These four blocks are only a small remaining section of the original street that my mother's family lived in before they moved over to Edinburgh. Most of this type of tenement building gave way to the breweries and other industries that built up through the last century. Now that's almost all gone too, with stories of doom and gloom surfacing daily about the meagre industry that remains and leaving nothing but the zero contract hour employers to mop up.

Thought I'd pop along there today with Euan though, bore him a bit with some vague family history, and preserve the moment with a few photos. You never know, some of it might stick and he'll drag his own offspring along here someday. How much of this might be left then is another story.
