Marwick Bay, Orkney to Hudson's Bay, Canada

Just sitting on the rocks here at Marwick Bay watching the birds wheeling and diving, the sun beginning to settle, and the tide slowly coming in.

It's incredible to think that as I sit here tonight, someone could be sitting on the same latitude in Canada in the Hudson Strait, and watching the same sea rise and fall as me.

Hudson's Bay has meant so much to Orkney over the years and this year especially, the bi-centenery of John Rae's birth, the man who found the North West Passage.

But before I got too philosophical I had to run and stop the dog from trying to eat a crab. Isn't nature wonderful!
