Move that van!
Went for a walk in the park this afternoon and parked in the usual place. There were two blokes near the entrance gate, that I thought they were working on. Seems they were also chopping trees down in the park.
One of them called me, as I was putting my walking boots on at the back of the van. Monsieur, you can't park there as that is where we're putting the cut down trees. He directed me to park further away up the lane, as in the photo.
Anyway, I went for a walk because I was beating myself up about a problem we have with the house plumbing. The hot water has gone scalding hot. So I went into the basement to see if there was a thermostat control on the water tank. When twiddling things I activated the overflow under the tank, which started evacuating water into a big curver box we've placed underneath.
I managed to slow it down, but not stop it. So I had to shut off the water at the mains. After a Whatsapp with my friend in the UK, who is a retired plumber, we went through things on video. Seems the thermostat is probably shot. As is the overflow and also a lever that shuts off the water going into the tank.
They're probably all caked in limescale inside.
So we're going to have to get those replaced and hope the water tank won't need replacing too.
I'm rubbish at anything DIY, so of course I feel like this is all my fault (not looking after my family etcp. Although I'm not speaking to my two BIL's, I don't really want them to hear about this as no doubt they'll make some comment. Unfortunately the plumber we've used in the past, is one of their friends. So I'm taking this all on me at the moment.
The walk was needed. A bit better but not completely.
