Flying insect porn

I saw so many butterflies today and got lots of photos. It was difficult to decide what to blip, but it has to be this one. A very large and messy white butterfly came into view as I was lying on the ground photographing a female Common Blue laying eggs. I looked up to find two copulating Green-veined Whites fluttering around - or at least the male was fluttering and carrying the perfectly still female. This copulation tour went on for ages with occasional perching. It made me feel exhausted watching them. I eventually lost them, still in copula, in a big area of scrub. I do hope they managed to complete and separate eventually.
