The Nelsons

The magnolia across the way...

Our neighbours magnolia tree, taken through our living room window. I was on the sofa and used the copious zoom that my compact Lumix has. Amazing little camera.
The black line is part of our gazebo, just in front of the window.

Bit of a stressful few days. My Lenovo Thinkpad decided to go kaput, the day before some lessons. Luckily I had already planned them, but now had no laptop to do the lessons with.
So I managed to extract the HD from the Lenovo and back up part of it - including the files I needed. Then the plan was to use my old HP laptop (currently used for UK telly in the living room) to do the lesson with. Unfortunately the keyboard had failed on it some years ago, so I decided to use the external keyboard I use when navigating UK TV catchup sites.
Then to my surprise the keyboard was working, although, the control key wasn't working (so no shortcuts). Nor was the full stop key. Somehow I got through the lessons, I warned the students beforehand.

So back to the Lenovo. I wasn't sure why it went kaput on me, but then I wondered if it was the power cable. A bit of plastic had split inside the oblong plug, that plugs into the side of the laptop.
On a hunch I ordered a new cable from Amazon, which arrived after the lessons.

I'm happy to say that I'm now back on the Lenovo, typing and posting this... Touch wood it'll still work...
