St Pauli bar, Copenhagen

Copenhagen has no shortage of fine watering holes and fine beers, but sometimes one craves an antidote to the local fare - especially to Danish folk songs on jukeboxes and liars' dice, both of which are absurdly abundant in the city's bars. Stumbling upon a German bar dedicated to Hamburg's leftist and bestest football team - complete with Astra beer from that fine town - was quite the result, especially because it hasn't been open long and the bartender gives a free vodka tabasco shot to each new arrival by way of enhancing word of mouth. Replete with anti-hipster posters, judicious punk music and a convivial owner, this bar would be a credit to any district, let alone St Pauli or Vesterbro.
