"On A Clear Day"...

...Yes, it was a beautiful clear day today on the tip of Yorke Peninsula in South Australia where we visited the Innes National Park for the day...

...The road you see here, leads into the Park which has so much history I couldn't possibly relate it all, however, as you can see - it is a rugged coastline along there and beyond - and on a clear day - one can see Kangaroo Island on the horizon..

...Unique for its gypsum mining in the early days and as well for the production of the Bellco chalk, made into chalk pieces which most school teachers would have used at some time..and now it is a beautiful National Park which attracts 125,000 visitors annually, with its majestic headlands and sweeping beaches.. There were many shipwrecks along these coastlines..

...There are many roads leading to lots of surfing and fishing beaches - which my family knew well and today we had the company of emus and Western Grey kangaroos, lots of birds, and bunnies and probably lots of snakes in the undergrowth..but they don't bother us if we don't bother them...Soon the wildflowers there will be absolutely beautiful, we were a little early to see the majority, but we did see some which the Park is well known for..

...We had taken our lunch with us to have and we sat in one of the great shelters at West Cape, around a bit from where this shot was taken. The shelters have been provided around the park, high up on the cliffs and we overlooked the wonderful Pondalowie Islands - a magnificent view any restraunter would be proud to be part of..

...There were only 2 other people in the whole park - and they were from South Penrith, holidaying for 3 months around Australia, they told us, and they too, so enjoyed the magnificent views all over the Park..and were so enjoying the peace and tranquility of the day...

...It was a lovely day...and so nice to visit the places of my youth again today..
