Southern Alps

It was always going to be a stunning day today. Sadly my Cat Skiing trip was postponed due to avalanche danger. I wasn't too upset as yesterday a heliskier not too far away was killed in an avalanche ...

So instead Adam and I headed to the safety of our nearest ski area, literally just over an hour from our house - Porters.

The day started with a lesson for Adam and some free skiing time for Dad. The first run, 30 cm of untracked fresh snow - simply heaven! Post lesson Adam and I met up and started skiing all over, albeit not the same steepness or depth of snow that I had started on. But glorious just the same.

As luck would have it, we were spotted by one of Adams classmates and her Dad, and skied with them for the rest of the day. The two kids decided they didn't want to ski with their dads ... we feigned distress at this turn of events, then quickly agreed and headed back to the steep powdery slopes, while the kids skied down the tracks. Thrilling for us, thrilling for them being allowed to ski on their own (with Dads eyes watching over them from high above, literally).

So, an awesome day. Just like this awesome view from the top of the ski area.

Edit, just spotted 1 yr ago, skiing also ;-)
