48th Annual Sipayik Indian Day Celebration

The blueberry harvest is happening and the Maine Blueberry plant is a busy place. The bins for teh berries are stacked up and being distributed to the fields. We passed it this morning in Machias on our way to Eastport. We were headed to our favorite pottery shop, Dancing Dogs. On the way we pass through the Indian Township, Sipayik, and the Passamaquoddy Tribe's annual celebration was underway. We pulled over and watched some dancing and listened with wonder as the Chief addressed the gathering and prayers were offered in the Passamaquoddy language. The little dancer here won my heart, she was so excited and so focused. The day was grand and the opportunity to listen and enjoy the celebration, fantastic.

Eastport was busier than the last time we visited, we had a fantastic Mexican meal and made our way back to Machiasport.

Meteor showers are the next activity of the night, there are absolutely billions of stars visible here.

For the Record,
This day came in sunny, warm and perfect after almost 2 inches of rain yesterday.

Small commercial message at the beginning, but it shows the harvest and a new insect menace.
