Another room with a view

A lovely drive across France, particularly the climb to the Mont Blanc tunnel. Not surprisingly for a hot Saturday afternoon in August, the queue into the tunnel was three quarters of an hour. We spent the night in Courmayeur. What a lovely village! It's a ski resort in the winter and a hiking centre in the summer. It was full of French and Italian families strolling around, shopping, eating ice cream, drinking beer, having fun! The view from our hotel window was the Col de Gigantes. If you were standing on the Col, you would be looking straight at Mont Blanc. I loved the way that the evening sunshine was lighting up the clouds that were trying to get over the mountains from France into Italy!
