Scairbhín
Actually back to the Heron Gallery where this jaunty little display caught my eye. Coffee and scones with Ginny; and SeriousFrolic will be pleased to know I have finally had a hot cross bun - I suddenly realised I hadn't had any yet! Himself came back from Bantry bearing the necessary - yum.
It's the Scairbhín here, translated as the rough weather of the cuckoo and the weather forecast for tonight is suitably dire after a bout of very good weather and it was actually snowing on the east coast yesterday! No signs of any cuckoos yet though the willow warblers are hard at it!
In other news, I am having to send my Irish passport back! Himself has been worrying for in said document I have been embellished with a double-barrelled name as one of my forenames has crept in with my surname so I am down rather grandly Crabtree Clarke. I wasn't too bothered as it is part of my name but Himself could see problems and as I already cock up machines at airports, it seemed wise to err on the side of caution, I rang up a number and was amazed to get a human and a very efficient one. She listened, put me on hold fro quarter of an hour, thanked me for waiting and promised someone else would be in touch via email. . And they have and it seems it was a mistake so now it has to go back. A slight panic now, as we have not got our old British passports back yet after sending them in with the application and I have a trip across the water in a few weeks. It will be grand!
Tomorrow I was hoping to take part in a pilgrimage up Cnoc na dTobar - yes, a holy mountain and a steep one with nowhere to run. The Scairbhín looks like it might be doing its worst so I am chickening out. It would have involved a good five hours driving to and fro and a five hour up and down , not much fun in lashing rain and wind. Yes I am trying to convince myself I've made the right decision..
