Pear blossom

Today's the day  . . . . . . . . . . for a miracle

This is, without doubt, my favouite time of the year - when we're right at the start of the growing season with the promise of everything to come, but new plants are bursting forth on a daily basis.

Our pear tree is absolutely covered in blossom at the moment.  You won't be able to tell from the above that the whole tree is only about three feet high (as yet) but we have high hopes for it.  Unfortunately, there's something else I have to tell you - it's a pear tree which has had three different varieties grafted on to it, namely - Conference, Abbe Fetel and Williams.  Now, I have to say that I don't approve of such messing about because it's not treating the noble pear tree with the respect it deserves.  But in our defence, we actually thought we were buying three separate trees?!

The main thing is - it's our tree and we will continue to look after it and be charmed by the miniature miracle of it, at this time of the year . . . . . . . . .
