Birds & Blooms - 4

Today's featured bird is a male Downy Woodpecker.  He landed in a spot where many of the blooms have already dropped, making way for leaves, but still enough blooms to be a contender.   Downy Woodpeckers are frequent visitors to our garden every day of the year and never fail to charm and entertain me.  Another month or so and we'll have a garden full of fledgling woodpeckers and then the fun will really begin.

Temperatures are a bit warmer today and abundant sunshine makes it feel warmer than the actual temps.  I'm battling a significant episode of anxiety right now and being able to spend a good part of the day outside definitely helps my overall mental state.  I'm not sure why I am having more anxiety recently although I chalk it up to a constant state of worry and the non-stop background noise of political, racial and religious tensions.  It definitely takes a toll.  

Jax is at day care today and from the pictures they've posted, he looks to be having a grand time.  Guaranteed to sleep hard tonight!  Hubs has karate tonight so while Jax is snoozing I will catch up with bestie Peggy on the phone.
