The "Real" Rome

After a week in Rome visiting the beautiful cathedrals, incredible fountains and millennia-old ruins, on our last full day, we decided to take a walking tour of the city and go to places where tourists don't spend a lot of time. That decision brought us to the Campo de Fiori and the marketplace where the native Romans shop. This, for me, is the real reason to travel...to see how the rest of the world lives.

In case you are unfamiliar with the vehicle in the center (I was), it is called an APE (pronounced AH-pay; Italian for bee). We saw those everywhere, and maybe as the price of gas climbs higher and higher here in the states, we will start seeing a lot more of them here as well.
