Whisby Nature Reserve
Blurb later...
We decided to go out straight after breakfast to find our Blips today, and Whisby Nature Reserve was the chosen destination. Brian decided to park on a layby to avoid the parking charge. Also so I could get more steps as it was a decent walk from there to the reserve.
It was a good day for it and there was plenty to look at - various insects, butterflies, water birds, sheep (Not near enough to see properly). Apparently there was a nesting pair of Mediterranean gulls, but we didn't see them - it was like looking for a needle in a haystack, trying to spot them in the raucous crowd of black-headed gulls.
I could have blipped a peacock butterfly, a hoverfly , gulls or cormorants, but this scenery shot, enhanced by Brian in his red hoodie, is my favourite taken today.
Before heading home we visited Morrison's for a quick shop - mainly fruit and veg really...
A couple more Rugby League games today to round off the Easter fixtures. Leigh Leopards beat Warrington earlier, and now we're watching Catalans v Salford - not rivals in the sense that most of the others are, but they have to play someone!
Talking of Catalans, the new regime in charge of Superleague are considering kicking them out next year. They have done nothing wrong, they just don't want them any more. The excuse is that they were formed to try to strengthen the French national side, but that has not happened so the venture has failed.... How did they ever really thing one French club could do that single-handedly anyway?
They are already being penalised for existing this season by having to pay the English teams' travel costs for going to away games in France as well as their own costs for travelling away to England themselves...
I want them to stay, as do most supporters. They provide great entertainment value, and are most English fans' second favourite team!
