Tidying the fruit bed

Over the past couple of days, I have been working on our fruit bed. Here we grow apples, raspberries, strawberries, and rhubarb*. Of these, the rhubarb is doing best at the moment - so much so that poor King Paddy is currently struggling to see past the leaves into the garden. On 14th June 2020 this bed looked rather different.

While I tidied my way along this bed, and around the corner at the top, Mr hazelh prepared the lawn for top-up reseeding. Of course, the pigeons have already been pecking away at this free all-you-can-eat buffet!

We also went for a long (for me) run today. Our final destination was just outside Paddy and Caitlin's house so that we could pick up our car after last night's fun and games.

*The apple tree is out of shot. We also have a blueberry tree, which we moved into the vegetable plot because it was being crowded out by the raspberry canes. In 2023 we donated our gooseberry bush to the garden that we share with our neighbours. This is because it cruelly prickled me whenever I wanted to weed around it.

Exercise today: 7.5 mile run; walking (19,098 steps including run).
