Life is a Challenge!

MONO MONDAY - RECLAIMED FROM NATURE

I fully intended to wander around the garden to look for something that was “reclaimed” from the natural world, until Mr. HCB told me that our first Iris was blooming.  What a decision!

However, when I got nearer to the Iris, I moved the bird box, only to hear Mr. HCB say “Don’t move that, the birds are going in and out and feeding!”  I quickly put it back on top of the reclaimed bricks and next to the piles of wood and THEN took a photograph!

This particular bird box came off our fence that was blown down in one of the winter storms and Mr. HCB had never got round to putting it back up - but that didn’t seem to faze the birds, although it was only about a foot off the ground.  The Great Tits have been going in and out with nesting material and Mr HCB said he had seen them going in with food, obviously for baby Great Tits.

We will keep a careful eye on this box to make sure that next door’s cat doesn’t get near, although we think the same cat has been digging up some of the lettuces Mr. HCB planted out last week - Grrrrr - why don’t cats dig up stuff in their own gardens?

I have put the blooming Iris in as an extra, and I think you will agree it is rather beautiful.

I was late getting up this morning but Mr. HCB tells me he was out working in the greenhouse at 7.45 when there was light drizzle and then he worked in the garden until about 10.30 - in for coffee and then out working for another hour before the rain came.

It is far too cold for me to go out and work in the garden, so I will just sit and read one of the books recommended by someone on Blip - “The Women” by Kristin Hannah.  This is set in Vietnam, so I’m sure will be interesting, as one of our sons lives there and of course, we visited in 2018 for our Golden Wedding.
