Easter lamb fest

I managed to surface at 6.40 and get the rosemary and garlic under and on the lamb before getting it into the very hot oven at 7am. I immediately turned it down to 150 and went back to the van for an hour’s dose.

It turned out that the children had been wide awake and jolly at 2am when the daughters and Phil went to bed, having depleted the wine cellar somewhat. (The adults not the children).

I found it very painful standing to peel the potatoes, parsnips and carrots ready for roasting. The children, after painting their eggs, took the dog through the wood onto the moor and steeply down to the egg rolling place. The daughters walked via the road and then track while Mr C drove me to the start of the track from where I hobbled to the appointed venue. I phoned Ella who said Nathaniel and James were being silly and pretending to sleep in the heather. I told her to tell them we had the eggs so if they wanted to do the rolling they’d better be quick. They came running down and the rolling and chasing of eggs began.

We drove back to check on the dinner while they completed the 4 mile circuit. Phil had got the meat out to rest and the oven cranked up for the veg. I got broccoli and gravy underway while Ella decorated the cake and by 2 we were all at the table. They thought the lamb delicious (I’d got Nathaniel a M&S chickpea veg and harissa thing.)

It’s been a lovely couple of days but we are ready to put our feet up now. We are watching The Feud which I thought wouldn’t be good as it’s C5 but we are enjoying it.

Phil has ordered the DVDs of Heimut from EBay for £21 so that’s a treat to look forward to. They’ll enjoy it too as German is #2’s second language.

James asked his mum if she wanted to be roasted. She agreed. “Mum you are so fat you make the alphabet begin with O. ——- O B C D”. Say it out loud. BTW she is size 8
