A garden in the rain
An overcast start to the day, but unlike yesterday it didn't improve and ended up with rain.
We'd decided to go a little further afield and drove down to Scampston Hall, south of Pickering, to see the garden there. An hour's drive over the high moors - the poor old car was struggling!
The garden was OK, but left rather a lot to be desired. Quite a bit of restoration under way, but it gave the impression of being past its best. It would probably be better a little later in the season. I did spot a man who turned out to be the Head Gardener and we had a chat.
On the way back we made a slight detour and had a look at Thornton-le-Dale, known to those of you who watch Bangers and Cash as the home of Mathewsons, the car auction house.
Steady rain by the time we arrived back at the house - now we're off to a meal out as it's MrsM's birthday.
