On the beach (backblip)
I worked till mid-afternoon, then we set off only around half an hour later than planned, for our holiday break in Dorset. We were not planning to Go Mad there, as Steve has a horrible cough and cold, but he managed to drive through dark clouds and rain into the clear light of a sunny evening near the sea in West Dorset.
Thr cottage, which is part of a complex of six centred around a former farm, was lovely. Ours was in the grange, looking out on the yard, and was every bit as good as it had looked on the website. We checked in with the owner, then drove down the toll road to Ringstead Bay, the nearest beach, to explore. There is a cliff top car park too, on the burning cliff (which once caught fire, really), with spectacular views over the channel and the isle of Portland.
We returned to thr cottage, which was called Foxes, to see muntjac deer strolling around the property, chewing on leaves, perfectly at home with human beings in a rural setting.
