Rhododendron

A cold and wet morning. I accompanied BB to his annual check up at the hospital. We took the bus to Edinburgh. The bus app told us to change buses at Abbeyhill, but that proved impossible due to a large police presence and the area, including the bus stop, being cordoned off. We found out later that someone had been stabbed earlier.

We changed buses on Princes Street, and it was all so efficient that we had lots of time to spare, long enough for BB to get me to buy him some breakfast. His appointment was also very efficient which was good. All fine, with a check up next year.

The rain had stopped when we left the hospital. We wandered down to Stockbridge, then wandered through the Botanics, before going for a pizza lunch. We avoided more rain, then walked up to Princes Street. I bought him a couple of treats from M&S food, he then went off to get his train, and I walked along to the bus stop. I had been cold all day, and the bus home was freezing. I was glad to get home to put more layers on.

Later I popped out for a few bits and bobs, then made tea. I used a new recipe for a paneer dish. It was ok, but I didn’t love it. I had to start thinking about tomorrow and back to work.

There were lots of beautiful things in the Botanics. I loved the vibrancy of this rhododendron, the strangeness of the chlorophyll-lacking purple toothwort, and the drifts of blue camassia which was just coming into bloom (extras).
