The accidental finding

I’m so glad

…that I decided to go to the Chris Wood concert anyway, even though Steve wasn’t well enough to go!
Because it was in Cheltenham and I can’t drive so I couldn’t get home, last night I booked an air b n b for myself. I’ve only stayed at a few over the years but this one is quite charming, with an eccentric vintage bedroom (I’ve seen that duvet cover before, in 1971). There is a separate exit via the back garden (above) on to a lane, while the front door opens on to a Regency square.

The host and his partner are keeping me in chocolate buttons and other treats whilst peacefully getting on with their cross stitch. The host also plays the cello but not while I’m here. It’s altogether delightful. Perhaps I could offer jigsaw puzzles and chocolate if I ever set up an air b n b?

Chris Wood is an English writer, song writer and folk singer. He is also very natural, self-effacing and funny.
He writes about the lives of ordinary people and has a keen ear for dialogue. He’s not very keen on the ‘hey nonny nonny’ type of folk song and says he writes about what he knows. He is also quite scathing about folk music fans. I laughed a lot. To give you an idea of his music, I’ll put in a link. His neighbour on the allotments in Kent, a coastal county in England, always got along, despite political differences. The neighbour, who voted for Brexit, died recently and Chris wrote a song about him and other pensioner Brexiteers (Excuse me if this is not music to your ears, but the Brexit vote was at the very least a divisive issue, particularly in south coastal areas.

And now I am back in the cosy B and B, thinking about going to sleep. What a lovely second half of the day it’s been!
