Abstract : : Fire

One would think that sun generated power would be a rather simple process, but nothing about our solar power system has been simple. It was Jim who noticed, by looking at the app of our energy usage, that there was practically no power being generated by our solar panels. A fellow showed up this morning at 8:30 to install a new inverter. Jim came too to oversee things, working from his computer on the kitchen counter. It's a bit ironic that it has been very cold and there has been no sun all day today and the power was turned off.  We saw the device in the back of the truck when we went out for a walk, and it looked like a nightmare of wires and  circuit boards. We left him to it and by the time we got back, he had called for back-up. Eventually after 6 hours and much consultation on the phone to a third person, they solved the problem of whatever was wrong with the new inverter, everything was back on track again and Jim could go home.

Meanwhile I turned my attention to the gas fireplace in the television room. Somehow the fan got turned to high (very loud) and I couldn't figure out how to turn it down. John finally located the owners' manual. Fortunately I had saved it when I got rid of a drawerful of them (some for appliances we no longer have). I kept the one for the fireplace because we didn't know the make or model of it and couldn't look it up on line. I think I have now fixed it. It only involves a couple of icons and a couple of buttons, but without the manual it might as well have been as complicated as the inverter. Since I spent some time adjusting it and even more time sitting next to it, I made an abstract of the fire.

Once again, our power walk wasn't exactly a power walk because we stopped several times to chat with the neighbors, but social connection is almost as important as pushing the walk, and we could hardly run by them without stopping to chat. ..When were not stopping and chatting, we are pushing the pace a bit more. It does feel more like exercise.

Now I must get back to massaging my kale for a salad....Thanks as always to Ingeborg for continuing this challenge.
