Lest We Forget
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Today is ANZAC Day here is NZ and Australia, the red poppy is worn as the emblem throughout these two countries and is a symbol of remembrance of those who fought for our countries freedom. Anzac Day was originally devised to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who served in the Gallipoli Campaign 110 years ago, their first engagement in WW1 (1914–1918).
I went to an early service, concluding just at the sun rose.....beautiful tranquility, the happy birds chirping.
Ella turned 19 today - she was very happy with her food box (and her flatmates were as well she said).
Pottered in the garden, trimmed the edges - a beautiful sunny day, wind chilly though.
