Optimistic Moments

Bye Bye England

So today I left for China. After a 16h journey from Heathrow via Moscow we eventually made it to Shanghai (we being Michaela and I). The first flight was fine except that we were a tad delayed. Didn't realise it would be such an issue until the woman at the flight transfer desk said we had 20 minutes to get there. Oh yes, and Moscow airport is stupidly massive. After running for what seemed like forever (running past gates 30-51 - and each gate is also massive) we arrived at our gate to find that our flight was boarding at 20.50 not departing then. A few minutes to calm down and we were on our way to Shanghai with a few other study china participants we met in the queue.

Oh and did I mention Russians are very grumpy?? I swear it was like all the airport staff there need to be trained in how to smile!

We arrived in Shanghai airport and were greeted by another 5h wait until the shuttle bus left for Hangzhou which is where the uni is I am staying at. This journey took yet another 3h and now we had finally arrived. A little socialising and then quickly off to bed for some much needed sleep. I really wasn't up for drinking like the majority of students. How they weren't knackered I don't know.

I was unable to get a decent photo today due to all the travelling so here is Michaela on her laptop during the flight.
