Night Glow

Day 2 of our Bristol extravaganza!

Phew! This was a mammoth day out!

We started in the old area of the city. I was in my element in the St Nicholas markets. I'm not much of a shopper, but I do like small independent shops. We also took in some great street art or graffiti - depending on your point of view? A trip to the city library for a gromit - a busman's holiday for us!! There was even a tiny gromit in the cathedral.

Lunch was in The Boston Tea Party cafe on Park Road.

A quick afternoon break was needed, so back to the hotel to rest and freshen up.

We then set off to Clifton for the mass balloon ascent at 6pm. It's all part of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta weekend. We had no idea this was on this weekend when we'd booked the hotel. We stood just below the Clifton Observatory, overlooking the Clifton Suspension Bridge - not sure if the mass ascent would happen as it seemed too windy for hot air balloons to take off. At about 6.45pm we were not disappointed, they started to appear. In all there were about 100 balloons!!

You'd think we'd have given up by this point but no, we then headed off to the the main arena for the balloon fiesta (on foot!) to see the night glow and fireworks.

Unfortunately we didn't have time for a meal out, so it was just chips from a greasy spoon on the way there.

The night glow is where about 20-30 tethered ballons light up the sky to music. It was brilliant. So that had to be my blip for today.

We then walked back to our hotel in the centre of Bristol - in the pouring rain!

Gromit score: 20

Sore feet and tired leg score: Off the scale!!
