My old laptop connected to the office-supplied monitor via the handy VGA socket, so whilst I've been connecting to my stopgaplaptop with an HDMI to USB-C adaptor for the past year I keep forgetting that the end connecting to the monitor wasn't also HDMI. The provision of a docking station from work has meant a rearrangement of wires and has allowed the reduction in my tangle of one small adaptor, albeit with the addition of a fairly large docking station and a fairly large power supply for it.
