Pesto
On last week's supermarket delivery I ordered two 15g packs of basil for a meal I had planned, but as the 15g packs were out of stock they sent me two 100g packs instead, for the same price. The one I hadn't opened has survived intact, presumably as the bag is filled with nitrogen in the packing process, so rather than waste it I made some pesto with it today with a view to making a chicken pesto lasagne recipe I'd seen.
Much as I like pesto, it's the first time I've actually made it myself. I have to say it won't be the last. Having tasted it, I can't see me going back to the stuff in a jar. Just waiting for the lasagne to come out of the oven now to see how it works as a whole!
