Another one up and running…

A day of this and that. Usual cattle feeding and then bagged up bruised barley ready for tomorrow. Had to go down into one of the grain bins and shovel the last couple of tons down the chutes. I think I’m getting too old and tired for scrambling up and down ladders like a monkey these days. Still needs done though.
Took the dogs , got my measuring wheel and headed off to measure the field behind the steading to see how much barley was sown at one side and how much oats at the other.
Once that was done , headed off to the SRUC office to get Craig to help me fill in my IACS application. This is an annual inventory that the powers that be need us to fill in detailing all the land we farm , the areas of all the different crops and livestock numbers. After 101 fields I was starting to go cross eyed. The complimentary coffee and biscuits helped though.
Was finished by 4.30pm, so headed along to the vet’s to collect more BVD vaccine for the cows .
Back home and went to check my calving cows. H22 here had calved , but N19 who was hanging about this morning and looked like she was thinking about it hadn’t. She is definitely thinking about it though as she’s gone from letting me scratch her behind the lugs when I fed them yesterday to having her eyes out on stalks and facing me up when I checked her tonight. So , will see what happens tomorrow…..
