Took them over the border to one of our favourite walks, not that we walked it, but thought they'd be able to mess around in the water. Not possible, though, because the Alcarrache river is rather flooded, so too much mud. Ended up driving to a small dam halfway round, where we set up our picnic, Deb took photos of several types of dragonflies, Sam skimmed stones, and the kids enjoyed a can of guaraná each.

This afternoon, went over the Lake to the Monsaraz beach, and watched a hydrofoil regatta. Public holiday in Portugal to commemorate the Carnation Revolution, but all the flags at half mast for the Pope Francis.

Gratefuls:
- meeting several folk at the beach, like Dan and Mireille, and Eileen
- listening to some good songs in the car, like this bossa one by Sofi Tucker
- Sam finding the ear phone he dropped in the high grass
