Art in Bloom
Thursday
Today was the beginning of the Art in Bloom event at the Cincinnati Art Museum, which runs through Sunday. Previously it has been a biennial event, but they had it last year, and now this year, so whether this means they’re going to start doing it every year remains to be seen. I love visiting art museums any time, and the Cincinnati Art Museum is free, but when the art is paired with gorgeous floral arrangements, that’s double the attraction! A jury selected the 65 floral artists whose works would be displayed in the museum’s galleries. The floral artists range from professional to aspiring and hobby floral artists, and use their choice of items from the collection to inspire their vibrant and creative designs. We had a wonderful time wandering around, appreciating the art and the flowers. Some of the artists were standing by their creations, ready to answer questions or explain their thought and creation process, which made it more interesting. We were lucky with parking. As you may imagine, it was a very popular event, and I think we took the last spot in the immediate parking area, which was an electric charging place. We were driving the Tesla, so we could park there quite legally, though as it turned out the charger wasn’t working, which was a shame, but didn’t matter, as we had enough charge. We will often have lunch at the museum when we’re visiting, but that too was naturally very busy, so instead we went for lunch to the Incline House, which affords a great view over the city, the Ohio River and Kentucky beyond. It had been another lovely morning, but clouds were moving in by now, and we watched as the clouds darkened over Kentucky, and were clearly heading our way. We were sitting outside, but with a roof overhead, and as it happened, we were able to finish our meal before the first drops of rain fell, and were able to make a quick dash across the car park to our car, as the rain started coming down. By the time we got home, further north, the roads were dry, but the rain and the storm soon caught up with us!
