We’re here!

Niki, Ali and I got a train down to London for a long weekend in the city - and a little run for one of us! Such is the fever of the London Marathon than Niki and I both entered the ballot for next year before the train had even left the station.

We found our apartment in Hammersmith and then headed out - on the new Elizabeth Line to the Excel centre. It’s annoying that London don’t just send out race numbers like every single other run but it’s easy to understand why they do it when you see the sheer volume of merch they sell over the week. The whole experience was very different to mine in 2021 when it was all face masks and two metre rules.

From there to Covent Garden for a bit of touristing and to meet Ali’s friend, Joe, for a drink and then for a delicious Thai meal.

Despite spending a large proportion of the day either on a train or a tube, it’s been great! I love London on marathon weekend. I’ve already had a little cry at the expo, seeing all the charities represented and all kinds of people doing incredible things. It’s a weekend for having faith in humanity restored.
