Nuthatch

Today's the day .................. to hang out

This nuthatch has been a regular visitor to the feeders recently - so perhaps it's got a nest somewhere.

Despite its name, it much prefers practically any of the food on offer here, to actual nuts.  It's quite a belligerent, impatient sort of bird at the best of times - and I think it can't be bothered hacking away at the peanuts.  It wants instant gratification.  So, much better to grab a beakful of fatball from the coconut shell - or, as you can see in the extra, a few loose seeds.  This is to the advantage of the bluetit, of course.  He can nip round the back of the peanut feeder and get a few bits, while keeping out the way of that long, sharp nuthatch beak.

There's never a dull moment down at the feeders .....................
