Kente cloth and flowers
I used this Kente cloth as a table runner last night with these flowers. #2 daughter bought it in Ghana when she was on her trans-Africa by truck 25 years ago.
Bathroom Chris arrived and set to. But then Mr C had to dash to Alnwick at lunch time (after I’d brought the car back) to get a part for the cistern - something crucial in the old one was split. It took ages to fix but we have a flushing loo again and all the tiles are on. He’ll be grouting on Thursday.
This morning I drove to the U3A meeting. The speaker was so entertaining as well as being informative and enthusiastic about the project he’d got off the ground to rescue derelict Cresswell Pele Tower and garden. He was an indefatigable fund raiser, getting not only lottery money but lots from other sources and by encouraging local participation saved a lot on labour costs. English Heritage were very strict about the materials which added to the cost. It’s complete now, is a charity and it’s free to visit.
After lunch and when Mr C got back from
his cistern mission, I picked up Adrienne and we went to the stitching group at Katy’s. Adrienne and I are continuing with making the bedspread, Vivienne was embroidering and Katy and Ali were knitting jumpers. We chatted about all sorts - Passover and Jewish Orthodoxy, archaeology, Embroidery exhibitions, books, gardens, Pilates, the Cuddy trip to Durham Cathedral and holidays. They think I’m irresponsible in my choices of those. (Safely, danger etc).
Katy enquired at Alnwick pool about the class GPs can refer patients to. They were shocked our surgery knew nothing of it. So I’ll try to sort that in person tomorrow. Also Ali goes to a yoga class for the elderly at Alnwick gardens. (The elderly is anyone over 55!!)
