Munro No.1
The weather was favourable so we decided on an attempt at Ben Lawers mainly because the start point near the hydro-electric plant is high above Loch Tay at 1400ft.
As usual John said the route was mostly "flattish" (for a chap who ran 168miles along the Pennine Way in winter that is..)
The weather was ok, although we got into clag at about 2200ft and visibility meant no photography which was a shame because there are some great intersecting hills and valleys.
At about 3500 feet we picked our way around a snowfield on a north facing section.
I took my time keeping a close check on HR and also trying to avoid sweating under 4 layers of clothing which were required in the windchill.
Here is a shot of the summit which gives a fair indication of conditions.
At 3983 feet I felt a bit short-changed - it wasn't a 4000 footer but considering I couldn't make it up the stairs in a single effort in 2021 I was happy to raise a glass to 3983ft and Munro no.1
