Along A Country Lane

What a lovely day we have had. Wispy clouds brought loads of breeze. My sister and BIL worked on the front flower garden. They dug up all the perennials and bulbs first. The dirt had settled too low so they added rich soil. They replanted everything and now look forward to selecting the remaining plants. She finished the back rain barrel in time for tonight’s storm. Hoping it won’t be fierce. Our weather forecasters tend to hype storms so we stay tuned to their broadcasts. Hubby and I washed three loads of laundry. We should be good for the rest of the week. I made another Philly cheesesteak casserole for lunch. We put together a slaw, adding fresh broccoli and craisins to give it added flavor. My sister and BIL are smoking a nice piece of pork. Hubby figured out the i-Grill gadget. I guess they hadn’t found the correct probe setting when we smoked the turkey. We are too old to fool with all these new electronics. The kids think they are improving our quality of life. Lol. I doubt I have lost an once this week even though I am watching my portions. I walked the lane looking for wildflowers. My sister and BIL plant the edges in an assortment of seeds every spring. Some actually come back the following year (s). Hubby and I sat on the back deck glider, enjoying the breeze and back yard birds. This tree swallow performed its acrobatics for us. How blessed we are to have the opportunity to visit this nature filled farm. Jamie saw our mother at the orthopedic clinic. His shoulder is a mess - he cannot play golf. They x-rayed it and gave him a cortisone injection. He helped our mother fill in her medical paperwork (so glad he happened to be there). I think she was getting anxious trying to do it herself. She has a deep callous on the bottom of one foot. Hopefully they can relieve some of her discomfort. My sister and I had planned to take her to get it checked next week. Now we can use our time together for fun activities. Hoping you have time for some fun in the hectic times. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “Many eyes go through the meadow, but few see the flowers in it.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
