Closing remarks
We finished up our interesting meeting about our human-wildlife conflict project which is working in places where this challenge is particularly severe in the landscape that spans Tanzania and Mozambique. Lots of good reflections and ideas shared.
I’m in a role where I am sometimes called upon to make closing remarks, so I had to cobble something together that sounded like a fair summary. At the same time the security guard at the hotel was lowering the flag from its pole, with great seriousness.
At hotels, airports and any government institution, at 6am flags are raised. At 6pm they are lowered. The timing of these events is impeccable. If you’re passing at that time, you are not supposed to mill around absentmindedly. You need to stop and give the flag the attention it deserves.
